Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have the clarity of your life’s purpose that Mother Mary experienced? Do you often ask what your purpose for being here on earth is and insist it must be more than what is currently showing up in your life?
Blessed Mother Mary made decisions her entire life that led her to live her purpose in becoming the mother of God. She did not know those decisions were leading her down God’s intended path for her however each step she took led her closer to her purpose. She had an inner knowing that she was on earth to serve God, she just wasn’t sure how it was supposed to look. It wasn’t until the angel Gabriel revealed her purpose that Mary became clear on what she was meant to do. Wouldn’t it be nice if an angel could come down and simply tell you your purpose?
As a young child, Mary entered the temple to study the Law. Following her joy she had the discipline to eat only pure foods, pray without ceasing and a develop a profound wisdom of God’s will. She was joyous knowing God’s love and she was anxiously desiring the promised Messiah – imagining living on earth again as in heaven. Mary was building a temple within herself for God to reside.
Mary didn’t have Jesus to help her know how to live when she was younger. Mary instead tried to live like the angels and she kept an open mind and heart to listen to the angels guide her in the direction of God and all God’s goodness.
Mary’s intentions for her every thought, word and action were clearly to be a servant of God. Every decision, every choice, every opportunity she chose in favor of serving God. When she was serving the Lord, she was filled with joy and that joy is what helped her be open to receiving the gifts of God and become Jesus’ mother with the least resistance.
Many of us also have a burning desire to serve God. We want to make a difference in the world — leave it better than when we arrived. It has taken some of us longer than others to determine we need purpose to bring meaning to our lives. And once we know we want more meaning, we often have difficulty trying to find it in our everyday ordinary lives.
The most successful people in the world follow Mother Mary’s example by living their top passions. Our passions bring us joy, they are the clues to what God meant for us to do. I have a tool that will help you find your passions and begin living a life honoring your purpose.
You may believe that serving the Lord in a meaningful way is only for the saints. But I am here to tell you, God has given us each a gift, each a path that if we can follow the path of holiness as the saints, the path of intention as the angels, and live on earth as it is in heaven as Jesus showed us, we too can be of magnificent service to God.
