After Mother Mary gave birth to Jesus, she was filled with love and thankfulness for the gift of her husband, Joseph.
Mary was thankful that Joseph trusted, respected and sought to understand God’s intentions in bringing Jesus to the world. She was thankful of Joseph’s complete support of her role and involvement with God’s plan. Mary knew Joseph would protect his new family with honor, respect and love this child as his own. Mary was thankful Joseph would partner with her in raising Jesus according to God’s will knowing they would face challenges as opportunities to strengthen their love and trust in one another and in God.
Lord, thank you for giving Mary the support of a wise and loving husband. Thank you for letting Joseph’s heart be open to your will. May we all recognize the gifts you give to us in our partners, spouses and significant others who are in our lives. And may our love for them only magnify their gifts.
