Mary Visits ElizabethHave you ever walked into a room and felt the energy of a person of whom you’ve never met but knew you wanted to?  There are people throughout my life that I have been drawn to  instantly with a sense of knowing or feeling this is a person is special and was put in my path for a purpose.  Often it includes an instant sense that we’ve known each other all our lives.

Such is the case when Mary visited Elizabeth and Elizabeth’s infant moved in her womb with joy in the presence of Jesus in his own mother’s womb.  John and Jesus were meant to be on this journey together in a symbiotic relationship ~ supporting one another’s mission in life.  The energy between the two was so strong, so full of love, they could feel each other through their mother’s wombs.

The beauty of this scene is their mothers knew it too.  Mary and Elizabeth were on a similar journey.  They were both blessed with a miracle conception by the grace of God.  They were put on each other’s path to support one another as well through something no one else would understand.  Women and families thrive when they can support one another and share wisdom and resources.

Women need to be in relationship with other women.  We were created to be community builders and bring people together.  We are the ones God uses to remind us we are all one.  That whatever you do impacts me and therefore it is to our mutual benefit – the benefit to the entire world to love one another.

But here were two women whose pregnancies could make them outcasts.  One was too old to have friends of similar age to talk about the changes in her body, with her relationship with her husband, and with the impact on her faith.  The other was too young and unwed as well ~ who could she turn to for compassion and support?  The two were perfect companions for one another.

Elizabeth immediately knew Mary was carrying the son of God without even being told.  Mary received instant praise from Elizabeth for her faith in God’s word.  Elizabeth’s faith her prayers would be answered and she could bear a child in her old age was something others thought was foolish, including her husband.  Elizabeth knew her young cousin would need encouragement in keeping her faith that with God, anything is possible.

Mary and Elizabeth had each other to support and explore the meaning of the precious gifts of their children.  They also allowed their sons to be in each other’s presence to allow the resonance of their existence to be clear and deep for a long time.

It is so wonderful to be in the company of those who love you without conditions.  Those who believe in you.  Those who do not judge you.  And those who see the blessings in you.

Be the kind of friend, relative and mother that loves others without any conditions for receiving your love.  Love others despite their thoughts, words or actions.  Find the good in others and forgive their missed targets of your perception of perfection (everyones are different). Do not try to change others (which always is associated with judgement) but instead, nurture the light within them to shine brightly. Loving uncondtionally casts out fear which opens our hearts to allow God’s miracles to flow through us.

If you are so called to, I would love for you to be a part of the What Would Mother Mary Do? community where we can share, dream, hope and have faith in our purpose together.   Just as Mary and Elizabeth supported one another, we too can come together with an instant knowing of a bond that we are one.
